TeamMates is a free, one to one, school based mentoring program that matches a safe, caring adult volunteer with a young person, in grades 2-12. Since 1991, TeamMates Mentoring has served more than 49,000 students across a five state region in the Midwest. Our local Sioux Falls Chapter launched in 2020 through a partnership with the GreatLIFE Cares Foundation and the Sioux Falls School District.
TeamMates is a developmental, strengths based mentoring program that brings together two people, with similar interests and/or life experiences, to foster a caring, supportive friendship. Mentors meet with students between 30-60 minutes, once a week, during the school day, to play games, do crafts, or just talk. We ask for a long term commitment from mentors. Upon graduation from high school, vested students are eligible to apply for scholarships. Last year, TeamMates gave away $6.5 million dollars to support students in their post-secondary education plans across five states.
