Founded by Dr. Rebecca Cliffe, SloCo focuses on the human element of conservation—working to solve the problems that cause sloths to disappear in the first place.

Habitat Protection: They fund local "forest guardians" and island patrols to stop the illegal logging of red mangroves, which are the primary food source and home for the Pygmy Sloth.

Local Education: SloCo runs massive outreach programs in the indigenous Ngäbe-Buglé communities. They use creative tools like puppet theaters and workshops to teach local children and fishermen how to protect the sloths from accidental harm or hunting.

Ending the Wildlife Trade: They are a leading voice in preventing the illegal capture and export of Pygmy Sloths for the pet trade or "selfie tourism," ensuring these animals stay wild and safe on their island.
