Box 4 Fire Buff Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing on scene rehabilitation services to Dallas Fire-Rescue and neighboring departments. Established in 1963, the organization responds to 2 alarm and greater fires in Dallas and 1 alarm fires in defined hot and cold weather conditions. Services are provided from two customized vehicles: a 2018 Freightliner and a 2020 GMC pickup. Firefighters and other emergency personnel are given coffee, energy drinks and snacks. Meals are served on prolonged incidents. Misting fans and/or heaters are set up, as conditions warrant. Box 4 responds to other emergency situations such as Hazmat, SWAT, railroad derailments and aircraft accidents. In addition, Box 4 is part of the Dallas Regional Urban Search and Rescue task force, operating in the 16-county North Central Texas Council of Governments area.
