Why we walk:
Jessica, she’s the reason we walk. In September of 2019 Jessica was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma(Brain Cancer). The location of the tumor made it hard to remove 100% of it, leaving a bit behind. Soon she started intensive chemotherapy and radiation to “shrink” what was left.
Jess may have been living with cancer but that didn’t let her stop her from doing anything. Taking her dog for a run, grocery shopping, helping out at the school, being a mom and being a wife. We also made a lot of memories, like the birth of my daughter or “her baby” as Jess always said, family get togethers, holidays, beach trips, plays and everything else in between.
In May 2022 the tumor had grown and there weren’t any options left to fight this tumor. Our family still made memories even though each day got harder and harder. In August of 2022 Jessica lost her courageous fight against cancer. Leaving behind two young daughter, a loving husband, a mother, father, sister, grandparents and friends.
For anyone that didn’t know Jessica she was the brightest light in this dull world. The most beautiful smile and contagious laughter. That is why we are Team Wengert warriors, because she was and always will be a Warrior
