The SAFE program is so deserving of community support. The talented, kind, skilled and caring nurses are available 24/7 for people in our region who need help after being hurt by others. They provide direct care, forensic care if necessary, connect patients with additional services and do all of it in collaboration with many organizations in Maine. They teach in our area schools and businesses how to prevent violence and how to get care when needed. They are a model for all others!
But their program cannot pay for itself. Many patients lack insurance of any kind, but the SAFE nurses care for all, regardless. St. Joseph Hospital is committed to the program, and community support makes that possible.
