At Peacehaven, we are building community by re-imagining collaboration.
Peacehaven was founded in 2007 by Tim & Susan Elliot and Buck & Cathy Cochran. These two families, raising children with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), envisioned a place that would solve for isolation by cultivating community for people of all abilities. They knew of “the cliff” that so many families experience as their children age out of state and federal programs yet still seek opportunity, purpose, and belonging.
Thanks to the dedication of these two families (and the thousands of supporters over the years), today we are reaching people of all ages and abilities with programs and resources for anyone who believes in the dignity and perspective of everyone.
The full vision for Peacehaven’s 89 acres will be realized over the next few years beginning with a multipurpose community center followed by integrated, residential housing, an arts center, outdoor recreation spaces, a multidisciplinary health care clinic for the I/DD population, and expanded farming operations. These will be created to serve and appeal to people of every ability while addressing the specific needs of those with an I/DD.
