Description

Get ready for some serious fall fun on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022! This year, the CNY Fall Adventure Challenge, hosted by Tug Hill Outfitters, is taking place on a pumpkin farm (Little Salmon Farm), in Parish, NY. Picture searching for hidden checkpoints amidst all of the fall fun, from checkpoints in a corn maze, to pumpkins, sweet fall treats, and delicious fall Lunkenheimer craft brews! Race through the woods with only a map and compass to see which team can find the most hidden checkpoints in the least amount of time.

The race will be trekking only, using a map and compass. No GPS allowed. Teams will have 3 hours to run or walk the course and find as many checkpoints as they can before time runs out. Teams can find as many or as few checkpoints as they want, and there is no requirement to stay out for the full 3 hours, but trust us, 3 hours will go really fast! Think of this race as a choose your own adventure...you pick your route, your speed, and the level of intensity. 

This race has something for everyone, from families and newcomers to the sport, to competitive adventure racing and orienteering teams who are looking for a fun challenge in a cool place! Top competing teams may clear the course in ~2 hours, but beginners or family teams may not find all of the checkpoints within the 3 hour time limit. Terrain features include woods, fields, and streams. 

Team size can range from 1-6 people (cap of 4 people for adult teams, but families can race with up to 6 people). Prior to the race there will be a free navigation clinic for newcomers so you can learn some adventure racing strategy and practice navigating using a topographic map and compass.

Event Schedule

  • Packet Pick-up & Map Distribution - 9 -10:00 AM
  • Pre-race strategy and navigation clinic - 9:30 - 10:00 AM
  • Pre-race briefing - 10:15 AM
  • Race Start - 10:30 AM
  • Race Finish - 1:30 PM
  • Post-race awards - 2:00 PM
  • Post-race refreshments - 1:30-3:30 PM

For the post race festivities, we'll provide a full meal and will be partnering with our friends at Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing. Their beer is delicious, don't miss out!
Prizes will be awarded to top finishers in each category. Race t-shirts are guaranteed to everyone who registers by September 15th. 

Cost (Prices increase on September 1st):
$50 per person; after September 1st - $60
$30 for children 18 & under (Children 5 & under are free) 

One set of race maps, a race T-shirt, full meal, and 1 craft beer are included for each participant.
