In consideration of my acceptance as a participant in the Haven Pet Center 30-Day Virtual Dog Walk Challenge (“Event”), I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, hereby waive, release, and forever discharge the Event Director, Haven Pet Center, RunSignup.com, all Event sponsors and partners, and their respective officers, agents, employees, contractors, and volunteers (“Released Parties”) from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, or damages for personal injury, illness, death, or property damage arising out of, or in any way connected with, my participation in or preparation for this virtual Event, whether occurring before, during, or after the Event, and regardless of cause or negligence. This release is binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.

I understand that walking—whether outdoors on public or private property, on a treadmill, or in any other location of my choosing—carries inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, uneven terrain, weather conditions, vehicular or pedestrian traffic, animal encounters, personal health issues, and actions of third parties. I affirm that I am physically fit, sufficiently trained, and medically able to participate, and that a licensed physician has verified my fitness if necessary. I assume full responsibility for all such risks and hazards and for determining a safe walking route and environment.

I agree to follow all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines— including any current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations—to reduce the spread of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases while participating. I further agree to comply with any additional Event-specific safety instructions provided to me.

I grant the Released Parties the irrevocable right to use, reproduce, and distribute my name, likeness, voice, biographical information, photographs, and any video or audio recordings submitted by me or taken during the Event for legitimate promotional, news, or informational purposes in any media, without compensation.

I acknowledge that all registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Event may be postponed, modified, or cancelled at the sole discretion of the Event Director due to circumstances beyond reasonable control—including, but not limited to, acts of nature, public health concerns, or safety considerations—without refund. Event details are subject to change without prior notice.

By completing my registration, I certify that I have read, understand, and agree to all terms of this Waiver & Release, and (if applicable) that I am the parent or legal guardian of any minor participant I register and accept these terms on their behalf.
