Aid Station and Course Monitor

Course Monitor - PCT

Details

This course monitor will be located 1/2 a mile into the course, at the start of the PCT where runners will be passing through. Before the race starts, alert trail users of racers starting shortly. The Monitor will also direct racers onto the trail as they pass through the location. Most critical to this role is a friendly demeanor, as we want to ensure all PCT trail users feel very welcome on the trail despite there being a race :)

Grand Junction Aid Station

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteer will help with nutrition and hydration at the aid station as well as check off runners as they come through to keep track of the runners on the course. Must have 4wd vehicle with medium clearance (any SUV or Subaru will do fine) and be comfortable with driving on dirt roads.

Bike Park Course Monitors

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Bike park course monitors will be located at the 3 locations where the racecourse overlaps with the bike park. You might get to hang out with bike patrol (they're fun people!) and cheer on the racers. The bike park opens at 10am, so we don't expect much overlap between racers and bikers. 4wd/higher clearance vehicle recommended. You can carpool with the other bike park course monitors. You'll walk about a half mile from the Grand Junction Aid Station (parking) to the course monitor location. 2 of the locations are within visibility/speaking distance of each other (great for friends who both want to volunteer) and one location is another quarter mile down the trail.

Headquarters

Registration and Packet Pick-Up

Food Table & Merchandise

Details

Volunteer will help with handing out food and restocking items as they need. Assist in selling merchandise for any participants and spectators.

Zero Waste Station Manager

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Help us reach zero waste! Volunteer will monitor the compost/recycling area to make sure everything goes in the correct bin.

Finish Line / Timing

Volunteer will help cheer on our finishers, hand out finisher swag to runners as they cross the finish line and help with timing.

Details

Experience with trail running races preferred. Volunteers will run the course before it is open to participants to check that course markings are still up and undamaged. Pre-Runners will also check for any hazards on the course.

Course Sweep

Details

Volunteers will run the course to take down all course markings, clean up the trails as needed and make sure that all runners have made it back safely. You'll also help with monitoring the last runners on the course and determining needs for cutoffs.
