Why am I trying to raise $31 a week?
Great question!
Tunnel to Towers Foundation was formed in honor of FDNY Stephen Siller who gave his life to save others on 9/11. The meaning behind my “31” goal is from Stephen’s dedication to serve. You see, he was off duty when he heard about the planes. As he attempted to return to the city, he found roads closed. So he strapped 60 lbs of gear on and ran from Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers (the namesake: Tunnel to Towers) - can you guess that distance? A 5k, or 3.1 miles.
So we “follow in the footsteps” of Stephen Siller when we walk or run the 5k each year and I want to raise $31 a week until then to honor Stephen’s sacrifice.
This money goes directly to T2T who helps our injured and fallen service men and women & their families - Military, LEO & FD. But they’ve gone a step further and are also tackling veteran homelessness. T2T has housed over 10,000 homeless Vets and are just getting started.
Will YOU help me raise $31 a week for this incredible organization?
