Every week, my 4-year-old niece, Ellie, and 2-year-old nephew, Brian, face something both exciting and a little scary—they go to swim lessons. Over time, I’ve seen Ellie go from being unsure to swimming the length of the pool on her own. Brian is well on his way, too. Their courage to face their fears and keep showing up week after week has been a true inspiration to me.
Inspired by their bravery, I’ve decided to take on my own challenge this summer: swimming from Peaks Island to Portland on July 26th. It’s a new adventure for me, and I’m doing it to raise money for the YMCA of Southern Maine. This fundraiser will help support their important programs that provide local kids with the tools and opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive.
Every donation—big or small—goes directly toward helping the YMCA continue its vital work in our community, ensuring that all kids, no matter their background, have a chance to succeed.
Join me in making a real difference! Together, we can help the next generation build the courage to face any challenge that comes their way.
