  • TEAM FUNDRAISER--> AFTER SKIPPING through the Individual Become a Fundraiser Each team will CREATE a TEAM FUNDRAISER together that you will set up. (CORPORATE SPONSORED TEAMS will have your COMPANY as your Team Name).  You will receive emails confirming both Individual and Team.  You ONLY need to click your TEAM FUNDRAISING link to customize your fundraising page.  Your Team Fundraiser is for raising funds towards qualifying for Race Entry.  Your team will direct donors to your Team fundraiser tab to donate to your specific team.

  • A Corporate Sponsored Team is a company/business that creates a team building opportunity for employees to engage through team building activities/mini-challenges within the company that will then appoint one team to represent that company/business.
    • Corporate Entries will receive a company photo on Race Day in your company shirts, acknowledgment on Race Facebook and your company helping you with fundraising towards your team.

How many teams will be accepted to compete in the race?

  • Only the top 50 fundraising teams will be accepted as determined by the total amount of money raised by the fundraising deadline (September 19, 2019)

What kind of training would you suggest to increase my team's chances?

  • Racers will not know their challenges or where they will be going.  Therefore, training for this will be like no other.  It is mostly about having FUN!
  • Some tips:
    • Since this race is completed in teams of two and based on teamwork, you should consider training with your partner.
    • There will be a heavy physical component.  Take long walks, run and build your stamina for better physical condition.  If you have completed a 5k race, this is a good marker for your stamina.  Practice riding a bike for at least a mile and acclimate yourself with a canoe or kayak on the water.
    • some of this race may use the Lafayette transit system, so familiarize yourself with the bus schedules, routes and how the system works.
    • There will be mental/strategic elements.  Practice solving puzzles, answering trivia questions, or completing a task with specific instructions with your partner.
    • Raise the pressure level when practicing these things by using a stopwatch and establishing harder time limits, as this will help move past teams on the race.

What type of clothing would you suggest for race day?

  • Always consider weather conditions and flexibility of movement when choosing clothing.  Racers will choose what best suites their team name.
  • Example: Team Marvel- Each dress in a Marvel character onesie.
  • You will want to be able to move quickly, be comfortable and look appropriate.
  • All racers must wear running shoes!
How difficult is the race?
  • There are many different types of challenges and obstacles when getting through this route of about 15 miles.  It will require your team to be intellectual, physical, strategic, silly, follow instructions, plain luck and have fun.  Challenges along this route may be a breeze to some, while difficult to others.  You may surprise yourself at what you can do as a team when you work well together using each others strengths.  That's why it takes teamwork to get to the Finish Line!
