Description

VWK9 is excited to announce the 2019 U.S. Canine Biathlon®! This year it will also include a FULL weekend of fun, music, camping, vendors, friends, family, and of course...our four-legged companions! Competitive Racing will take place on Saturday May 18, 2019 and more leisurely (non-competitors) can participate on Sunday May 19, 2019...or as we call it "Sunday Funday".

On Friday, May 17th we'll kick off biathlon weekend with an early packet pickup 5pm-8pm accompanied by music on the nearby stage 6-10 PM. The Beer Truck will be open :)

On Saturday, May 18th our Biathloners will storm the 4 mile course all day long. Full Saturday race schedule is available in the website FAQ. Competitive runners MUST run on Saturday for consideration for one of our top prizes. Awards for Saturday runners will occur at 6:30 PM CST on Saturday, May 18th. On Saturday evening you will enjoy a live concert, beer, and food vendors in the biathlon area from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

On Sunday, May 19th a we will offer a second morning of biathlon racing for those that want to enjoy our Sunday Funday! Each Sunday runner will receive an official time, T-Shirt, and medal.

Those that are able to camp overnight in tents and RVs are encouraged to do so.  You can purchase your tent or RV camping site using the "Store" links in RunSignUp. If you have any questions about camping, please email phammond@vwk9.org. Race hotels will be listed on our website, or via our social media pages.

Held at VWK9’s world class 320-acre canine training facility in Anniston, Alabama, The U.S. Canine Biathlon® was founded by our Race Director – Paul Hammond (the Mad Brit) not only for those who love the challenge of obstacle racing, but their canine companions. This 4+ mile event features more than 40+ purpose-built obstacles over varied terrain including forest, sand, and water.

The U.S. Canine Biathlon® is open to all types  of Handler-Canine teams including Civilian pets, Search & Rescue, Military working dogs, or Police Dog teams. In addition, the race is open to challengers and thrill seekers of all ages and experience levels. Scores will be determined not only by course time, but also criteria based on the age of both the runner and the canine partner. The U.S. Canine Biathlon® is also open to individual entries who wish to complete without a canine partner or those canine teams who wish to take on the course as a group.
