At Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) we empower students to maximize their educational successes to become productive, responsible global citizens. One way MCCSC works to achieve their mission is by providing opportunities to empower students using the whole child approach. More elementary schools are now hosting free afterschool-run programs to improve children's overall holistic health. This is only one approach that MCCSC uses to empower students to take responsibility for their health and wellness through physical activity, nutrition, goal setting, and teamwork.
This event will be free to participants and rather than asking for a registration fee, families will have the option to donate to the MCCSC Mental Health Support Endowment. The Family Fun Run was developed to serve a few purposes:
- Provide an opportunity for families to spend time together being active while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
- Allow the after school running clubs to utilize the Family Fun Run as a goal to work towards during the spring semester.
- Raise money that will be donated to a mental health endowment to ensure kids today and in the future get the care and support they need.
Last year this event had over 400 participants and raised around $1,895! However, we think our efforts would go even farther with you as a Family Fun Run sponsor. This year, we are aiming to raise $2,000 to fund the MCCSC Mental Health Support Endowment.
