Description

The annual 5K A La Mud Obstacle Challenge is held at the former Downeast Fairgrounds on U.S. Route 1 in Whitneyville, Maine.

The 2016 "A La Mud" is dedicated to those affected by addiction and in memory to those who have lost their battle with the disease.  Healthy Acadia's“A La Mud” helps to raise awareness and generate support for the Downeast Teen Leadership Camp, or DETLC, which focuses on the importance of youth education and peer support in preventing substance and tobacco use among youth. DETLC is a 5-day residential summer camp experience for teens held on the University of Maine at Machias campus. DELTC challenges and empowers teens by providing them with the skills necessary to positively impact their lives and those in their communities. Healthy Acadia staff and volunteer mentors, many of which are DETLC alumni, create a safe and fun environment for teens to be themselves while exploring ways they can serve as positive role models for their peers and siblings.

Entry fee is $25. Students under age 18 pay just $10. Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the event check-in.

Registration/check-in begins at 12:00 pm the day of the event. No registrations will be accepted after 12:30 pm. The Challenge begins at 1:30 pm.
