The JAM 5K Run/Walk at East Pete Day

Donation Goal: $5,000

The Joy Among Mourning (JAM) Foundation is a local nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and joy to those experiencing loss.

JAM was established in memory of Andrew Wagner, a Hempfield High School graduate whose life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident on July 18, 2010. In Andrew’s honor, our family is committed to keeping his memory alive by bringing people together to create moments of joy, laughter, and connection while giving back to those in need.

Andrew had a unique gift for brightening the lives of others. He was always smiling, joking, and making people feel welcome. Through this event, we strive to carry forward that same spirit of joy and community.

Through the East Pete Day 5K, we are hopeful it will help transform grief into purpose by bringing people together and raising funds for causes that are meaningful to Andrew’s family and our community.

Proceeds will benefit:

Hempfield High School Scholarship:

Andrew graduated from Hempfield High School in 2009. Since 2011, we have had the honor of awarding scholarships to 21 graduating students pursuing further education, and we are committed to continuing this tradition in Andrew’s memory.

Dravet Syndrome Foundation (DSF):

Hayden is a bright and charming little boy from Lancaster who exudes confidence, strength, intelligence, and an unmatched sweetness. However, at just two months old, Hayden’s journey took an unexpected turn when he experienced his first seizure, marking the beginning of a challenging path for his family. Initially believed to be febrile seizures, his family continued seeking answers through multiple neurologists until he was finally diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome.

Dravet Syndrome is a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy that begins in infancy. It is characterized by frequent, prolonged seizures that are often resistant to treatment and can lead to significant developmental delays, mobility challenges, and other serious health complications. The impact on families is profound, and the need for research and support is urgent.

The mission of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation (DSF) is to aggressively raise funds for Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies, support and fund research, increase awareness, and provide support to affected individuals and families.

Today, Hayden is 11 years old and continues to defy the odds every day, though he still faces significant challenges. Our hope is to find a cure—not only for Hayden, but for all children living with Dravet Syndrome—so they can have a brighter future.

Hayden’s family has been a part of our lives for over 20 years and means so much to us.

521 Club Inc. (Butter Rd):

Our family has been personally impacted by addiction. We have witnessed the toll it takes and are grateful to say that our loved ones are still with us. At the same time, we recognize how widespread this disease is and have also experienced the pain of loss because of it.

Our hearts are with the individuals and families facing this difficult journey. We are committed to giving back to organizations that provide rehabilitation, support, and a path forward for those working to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

Together we can turn grief into purpose, honor Andrew’s legacy, and make a lasting impact in the lives of others.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the difference you are helping make with your donation.
