I would like to thank each of you for participating in this years event! I would like to tell you a little of why we do what we do. Most, if not all, of the money we receive for the race/walk goes back into the race. When we started this, I wanted to do this for our area because we do not have many events like this near by. I know as a runner myself I normally have to travel around 1.5-2 hours to be able to run a race like this one. I wanted to bring something closer to our area and would love to build this up to be one of the biggest races in our state. In addition to the Guyandotte Run, I founded a non profit (CoalTown Music Co.) in 2023. Any extra proceeds we get from donations, we use it for the events we do with CoalTown. CoalTown is a community band that performs several times a year for the community. We perform a summer, Veterans Day concert, and our biggest show is always our Christmas Show. Typically for Christmas we will have approximately 35 piece band play with a 20+\- community choir that performs for the community at Mt View High School in Welch WV. We bring in great soloists and have some of the best musicians in the area and surrounding counties come to perform. All of the performances are great but, our Christmas show is an amazing and magical show free for the community (and I will say it’s worth your drive to come see it).
We invite each of you to come out and see our concerts to see what you are supporting. We would love to see you there!!
Our a Christmas show is scheduled for December 17th at 7:00PM! You don’t want to miss it!! Any donations you give will be put to good use and back into the community. Also we are a non-profit so any donation your make can be taken as a tax write off. Thank you for your support in both our race and in keeping music alive in the mountains.
