Race the Ridge Adventure Race

The Blue Ridge Rush is a 6-hour race that will have teams hiking, biking and navigating all over the Blue Ridge School property and maybe even outside of it!

This race is perfect for those with some racing experience who are not yet comfortable taking on a longer, 24-hour race. If you have done our other 6-hour races, you will be right at home with this one. Teams can expect some off-trail travel/bushwacking, elevation gain and loss both on foot and the bike, as well as an orienteering leg. Teams will have 6 hours to complete the course, acquiring as many checkpoints as they can. Due to logistics and the location of the school, there will be no paddling for this race. The minimum age for racing is 9 years old. Kids under age 18 must race with an adult.

The Rampage will be a beautiful, challenging and fun race through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the shadow of the Shenandoah National Park. Known for it’s beautiful countryside, farmland, gravel roads, wineries, and vistas, the area in and around the Blue Ridge School attracts visitors from all over who want to get away from the big city and enjoy the mountains, wineries, and fresh air. This is our backyard and training ground. We know the area well and love to show it off! The woods will be popping with color as Fall—the most beautiful season of the year in central Virginia—arrives in the Shenandoah.

This year's race will once again challenge racers with a brand-new course designed to highlight the area and the school. Like last year, the Rampage will take racers through several pieces of private property few people have access to. Teams can expect significant elevation gain and loss on both the bike and foot, as well as a possible visit to a winery or two. And, to top if off, there will be a scenic paddle that may have teams paddling up to 12 miles on a combination of rivers, reservoirs and creeks!
