The Ormond Beach Celtic Festival is taking Kilts to a whole new level with its inaugural Crazy Kilt Competition – the contest is easy – run for about a quarter of a mile along the circle trail in Fortunato Park just north of the Granada Bridge on beach side. There are four obstacle stations along the course each with a complimentary beer waiting. The obstacle activities include a low-crawl, old school quarters contest, crawl tubes and hole in one corn hole. Participants must me 21 years of age to compete!

Stop one activity will be a low crawl (rebar, netting, mallets). Runners will drop to ground and crawl under the netting to the other side then get up and run to next stop.

Stop two activity will be old school quarters (one staff, one feather flag, two five foot tables with 20 cups, 20 small rocks, and 40 quarters). Runners will bounce quarters off table till one of them lands inside the cup. Once a quarter lands inside the cup, they run to the next stop.

Stop three activity will be crawl tubes (one staff, one feather flag and two tubes). Runners will drop and crawl through the tube, get up after through and run to next stop.

Stop four activity will be corn hole/bean bag (one staff, one feather flag, four cornhole boards, and 12 bean bags). Runners will toss they beach bag until one goes into the hole. Then the runner runs to the finish line.

Since the race is not timed and more about fun than competition, among all who finish, names will be chosen randomly for prizes which may or may not be cases of beer!!!

Registration opens at 4:30pm in Fortunato Park and the Contest starts at 5:30. Registration is just $10 and includes admission into the festival (festival admission is $10 itself, so participation is essentially free). The competition is limited to the first 50 participants.

Participants are encouraged to wear their kilts either authentic, homemade or somewhere in between.

Prizes will be awarded for best dressed male, best dressed female and best dressed duo.
