At it's root, our December dog walk challenge is a fundraiser in which our supporters raise money for Haven Pet Center--a no-kill pet adoption facility in San Jacinto, California. To join the walk, participants pay a $25 registration fee which goes to the homeless animals at our facility. Participants then challenge themselves to walk with their dog(s) for a least 30 days in the month of December. Individual walkers and teams "compete" virtually with others who are doing the same. Who can walk the farthest? Additionally, individuals and teams can increase the impact of their registration by becoming a "fundraiser". Those who raise over $100 for Haven Pet Center get their $25 registration fee refunded.
The $25 registration fee for the Walk for Wags & Wishes helps support the event’s main purpose — raising vital funds to provide critical aid for animals in need. Every dollar goes toward rescuing pets, providing medical care, and helping them find their forever homes.
As a thank-you for going the extra mile, fundraisers who collect more than $100 in donations will have their $25 registration fee refunded. This way, your efforts directly help save more animals while making participation even more rewarding.
You will receive a confirmation email (likely from RunSignUp) with important information--such as ID number, how to access your profile and fundraising sites, and your receipt. Keep hold of this email for your future reference. Once you’ve signed up, join our Walk for Wags & Wishes Facebook group dedicated to this challenge and click 'Join Group'. Once you're in, you can connect with other participants, post pictures, and be eligible for some cool games/prizes. You can also get tips for completing your challenge, be inspired by other fundraisers and find out anything you want to know about Haven Pet Center.
The dog walk challenge will last from December 1 and conclude on December 31st at midnight.
Click on "Results" at the Home page of our Walk for Wags & Wishes website. Track your walk using a fitness app (like WoofTrax), a GPS watch (like Garmin or Apple Watch), or even a basic pedometer. Go to your profile and navigate to our specific challenge's results page. Click "Submit Virtual Results" or a similar button. Enter your data. Submit your activity. If you need to add more activities later, click "Add Another Activity" instead of overwriting your previous entry
While we encourage everyone to complete this challenge throughout the month of December, this is a personal challenge, and you can start and finish at a time that’s convenient for you. However, you will only be able to post your results/progress during the month of December
- Navigate to the Race Page of the race
- Click Sign Up to begin the registration process
- Enter in all participant information
- Select your event
- Answer "Yes" for the question "Would you like to join a Team?"
- Click Continue
- Select the group/team you would like to join from the drop down menu
- If a password is required, enter in the password your Group Administrator set. **Remember passwords are case sensitive.**

- Log in: Sign in to your RunSignup account.
- Go to Profile: Click on "Profile" or your avatar in the upper-right corner.
- Find the Walk challenge events: Navigate to "Upcoming Events".
- Manage registration: Select the "Manage Registration" option for the specific event you want to add a team to.
- Access groups/teams: Look for the "Groups/Teams" menu in the top navigation bar and click it.
- Create the team: Choose "Create New Group/Team" and follow the instructions to name your team and set up any necessary details like a password.
