Description
Welcome to to the 6th annual Ventura Eco Xtreme Mud Challenge presented by the Ventura Police Officers’ Association and hosted by the Ventura Land Trust. The goal of this event is to create a fun and challenging adventure while raising money for the Dee Dowell Foundation. The course is going to burn and challenge you but how much it burns is up to you. Come join us in this wild and crazy adventure at the new Harmon Canyon off Foothill Rd at Kimball Rd.

The Obstacles
These were obstacles from past years. They may change slightly but we plan to keep most of them and add some new ones.
Sand Bag Scream
-To start the race, carry a sand bag up and down a very steep hill..men carry a 35lb sand bag, women carry a 25lb sand bag.
Wall Climb
-6 foot block wall with a 50 foot pea gravel section that leads into the wall (just to slow down your movement and make it hurt that much more)
Slip-n-Mud
-Exactly how it sounds..slip-n-slide downhill into a mud-pit!
Traverse of Death
-Traverse a 30 foot section of rope on an uphill grade that is suspended over a mud pit.
Mud-Mud-Mud
-3 mud pits back-to-back-to-back
Over Under
-Several hurdles to go over and low hurdles to go under
Breathless
-Transitioning from low-crawl to tire-run while going up-hill will leave you..breathless
Tire Run
-30 feet of tires stacked side by side that you must run through, watch the ankles!
Stairway To Hades
-100 steps straight down
Tube Tunnel Crawl
-Crawl through a 3 foot diameter plastic drainage tube for 30 feet
Low Crawl
-Crawl through a 30 foot mud pit with wire sections that force you to low crawl

The Cause
The Ventura Police Officers Association (VPOA) is accepting applications for the 14th annual Dee Dowell Memorial Scholarship. The scholarships will be presented to honor Sergeant Darlon “Dee” Dowell, who was shot and killed on August 7, 1978. Sergeant Dowell is the only officer in Ventura’s history to die in the line of duty.
In selecting scholarship recipients, the VPOA will consider academic achievement, school and community service, and financial needs.Applications must contain all required information. Deadline will be announced soon. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Parking
Participants can park at Missionary Church (N Corona Circle at High Point Dr which is off Foothill Rd), Temple Beth Torah Synagogue (Kimball Rd @ Foothill), Connect Church (Kimball Rd), on Kimball Rd where legally marked, or in the nearby neighborhoods where legally allowed.
PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF 20 EXTRA MINUTES TO PARK AND WALK TO THE VENUE.

The race takes place at Harmon Canyon off Foothill Rd just West of Kimball Road.
