Description
SEPTEMBER 13 TOUR DE TROIT CANCELLED
Unfortunately, the Tour de Troit Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 24th annual Tour de Troit, originally slated for September 13.
Rising costs in all logistics, and in particular the rise in the State of Michigan, and City of Detroit event costs for required police protection, event permits and other amenities have made it so we are unable to move forward with Tour de Troit as planned.
WE ARE DEVASTATED.
We know how much this ride means to so many — from the cyclists to our volunteers,
vendors, and neighbors — and we share in your disappointment.
The difficult decision to cancel this historic event was not made lightly by the leaders of our nonprofit organization, but we are simply unable to cover the additional costs of producing this event while keeping registration fees at the level they are, with the number of participants we have registered.
All 1,300+ registered riders for 2025 will be contacted and refunded to their original form
of payment.
We remain committed to creating spaces that celebrate and uplift cycling in Detroit. We will be spending this next year trying to work with the city to come up with a resolution that will allow us to bring the event back in force, with streets closed, and with reasonable pricing.
WHAT CAN YOU DO??
We need you more than ever. Your voice is important and only you can show how much this event means to Detroit. Write letters of support for this, and all of our events telling stories of your rides with us, the importance of cycling events, and this event in particular, and send them directly to me vittoria@tour-de-troit.org with the subject: SAVE THE TOUR de TROIT!. If those could get to us before October 1, 2025 we would appreciate it. If you want to donate your registration fee to the organization, your donation would be 100% tax deductible. Please let us know by emailing the name of the registrant and a note that says DONATE MY FEES. We will return your email with a letter for your taxes.
Thank you for your continued support over the past two decades.
