Hike 2 Breathe for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month!
We are back for the 5th Annual Rock CF Hike 2 Breathe. This year, we are doing a 5 mile in-person event for all to hike for cystic fibrosis awareness together at the Potawatomi Trail located in Pinckney Recreation Area, Michigan.
Along with the in-person event, you can hike virtually from wherever you'd like. Your hike can be as basic as a mile walk down the block, a stroll in urban or rural areas, on trails, up mountains, or anywhere that suits and challenges you.
In-person and virtual hikers will be geared up with an awesome Rock CF x Hike event shirt. Shirts will be sent in April so that you have it ready for your May adventures!
For those of you hiking away with us this May, we’ve got some awesome fundraising incentives for you:
$250 - Refund of registration cost + Hike Hat
$500 - Crewneck + Stake Sign + all before
$750 - Gear Pack + all before
$1,000+ - Pullover Fleece + all before
We want to see it all from your adventures! All participants are encouraged you to share your experiences with Rock CF and your networks via Facebook, Instagram, Strava, etc. Wherever you post, be sure to tag @LetsRockCF and use the hangtags #RockCF and #Hike2Breathe so that we can see/share your photos.

Parking, Maps, Event Info
Before you head out, we wanted to put a few things on your radar to make sure you get the most out of your morning. Basecamp is located at the Willow Shelter in the Halfmoon Lake Day Use Facility. We do have on-site reg, too!
- Check-in & Registration will begin at 9am in the Willow Shelter.
- Day of registration is available.
- The Hike will start at 10am.
- The route is a 5.1 mile loop, if you'd like a shorter hike, please consider doing an out-and-back rather than the entire loop. The loop we will be following is the Crooked Lake Trail.
- Jimmy John's subs will be waiting for you after your hike.
Directions/Parking
If you're coming from US23, Exit #49 on North Territorial Rd. Travel west approximately 12 miles to Hankerd Rd. Turn right and travel 2 miles north, then make a left into the Halfmoon Lake Beach area. Once you turn into the park, you will drive past the first parking lot and continue down to the large parking lot where the Willow Shelter is located (look out for the blue Rock CF Flag!). The lot is just past this address: 8725 Hankerd Rd, Gregory, MI 48137.
More important notes to remember:
- You will be required to have a Recreation Passport to enter. Cars entering without one will be charged $12.
- There is not a restroom located directly at our shelter but there are a few nearby around the park. On the trail, there is a restroom a short walk from the halfway mark if you walk from posted marker 2->1. Just remember to walk back to 2 to continue on the appropriate route. You can also make a quick gas station stop on the way in, if needed!
- IT IS TICK SEASON! Consider long pants, long sleeves, tall socks, a hat, insect repellent (we'll have some!) and remain on the posted trail. Don't forget a quick tick check once every so often and after your hike.
- All animals that are brought must remain leashed and with the owner at all times.
- Finally, we suggest you download the AllTrails app to easily navigate the trail if you are unfamiliar with the area. We will be following the posted trail marker numbers counter-clockwise, in the order of: 8->3->2->9->8. We will have small maps for every hiker to take on the trail, but the app is very useful.
