[Virtual] Run For Lives 2020

Sat June 6, 2020

Description

Thank you for your interest in Run for Lives 2020!  Although the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered many aspects of everyday life, including preventing us from holding an in-person 5K obstacle course race as originally intended, we are excited to announce our plans to hold a virtual Run for Lives event on Saturday, June 6, 2020.  We hope this adjusted event will engage members throughout our community in support of Children’s Wisconsin!

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Submit My Race Results?

If you're already registered for the virtual race, all information on submitting your results and verifying them to win prizes is available on our Race Day info page!

How will I participate in a virtual race?

With respect for social distancing guidelines, we will not be holding an in-person 5K course.  Instead, participants will have from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM CST Saturday, June 6, to personally complete their own 5K (3.1 miles), whether on a treadmill or an outdoor trail, sidewalk, or other walkway of their choice.  Participants looking to win a prize basket will be asked to track their run and submit their results through our online form as well.  Complete instructions on this will be emailed to all participants, as well as posted on our website, as we get closer to the day of the event.

Will event T-shirts still be offered?

Yes!  All participants will receive a Virtual Run for Lives 2020 t-shirt as our way of thanking you for your support.  We will offer specific pick-up times in the days leading up to the race, and will alert all participants of these opportunities well in advance.  Please note, however, that due to order processing, registrants after Friday, May 15 are not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt before the day of the race.

Will there still be prizes for participants with the fastest times?

Yes!  Participants can win up to $100 in gift cards for the fastest race time, best average team race time, most creative individual/ team route, and best group attire.  In order to be considered for a prize, participants must submit their results through the online form that will be emailed to them prior to the day of the race.

Am I required to join a team to participate?

No; with the new virtual format, signing up with a team of 2-5 participants is entirely optional.  However, we will offer a joint prize for teams with the best average race times, most creative route, and the best theme/ team apparel, so you’ll want to create a team with friends or family members using our Teams page for even more fun!

I’m not interested in participating in the event itself; how can I still support Run for Lives?

We appreciate your willingness to support our fundraiser for Children’s Wisconsin.  Even if you don’t register for this event, please consider sharing this information with friends or family members that might be interested in joining us!  You can also financially support our efforts by making a donation at our Donations page.

I previously registered for the 5K obstacle course race.  Do I have to re-register for the virtual event?

All previous registrants received an email from Run for Lives 2020 on Friday, April 24 with detailed instructions on how to easily opt-in (or opt-out) of the virtual race.  This information can also be found on our Info for Previous Registrants page.
