What is Sol Fest?
Sol stands for solstice and Fest stands for festival. Sol Fest is CorpsTHAT’s annual fundraiser that incorporates getting outside and celebrating the sun during the month of December. Our fundraiser is a month long Trail-A-Thon, which allows the community and individuals to raise money to support Deaf outdoor programming. During the winter, the earth tilts so that the northern hemisphere is further from the sun causing the nights to become longer and darker. And the daylight will be shorter for the day. So, since it is a short sunny day we take advantage of it by getting outside and enjoying nature. For the month of December, CorpsTHAT celebrates Sol Fest with a Trail-A-Thon!
Where Do the Donations Go?
CorpsTHAT is a Deaf and Disabled run 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Baltimore, MD. Founded in 2016 by two AmeriCorps and conservation corps alumni to make the outdoor and conservation fields not only more accessible but also more inclusive. Over the last several years, CorpsTHAT has supported in hiring over 150 Deaf and hard of hearing corps members, educating over 200 Deaf students in stewardship, and reaching over 1,000 Deaf community members through recreation experiences and education. 100% of your Sol Fest donation goes directly to CorpsTHAT’s conservation corps and outdoor programming.
