What is a virtual 5K?
A Virtual 5K is a race that you choose to complete wherever you would like. You can walk, run, use a treadmill, dance, or choose any other way to cover 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). Go at your own pace, wherever and whenever you choose!
When you sign up via RunSignUp you will be able to register as an individual or create a team with folx that will complete the 5K together.

After the Virtual 5K ends on June 26, our committee will announce winners in the following categories:
- Most Creative Team Name
- Most Artistic Route Taken
- Fastest Average Team Time
- Fastest Individual Time
- And More!
How do I share my Virtual 5K experiences across social media?
- Post on social media! Tag the Roundtable at @nycaier and use the hashtag #5KtheArtsEdWay
- Use our 5K The Arts Ed Way social media toolkit to access ready-made captions and templates to make posting easy.
How do I join or create a running team?
Joining or creating a team for the 5K is easy!
- On this RunSignUp page, click “Sign Up” in the top right corner.
- Fill out your information. Scrolling to the bottom of the form, you will see a question – “Would you like to join or create a team?” Answer YES and click CONTINUE.
- Check the box to complete the waiver form, and click CONTINUE.
- On the following page, you will be offered an option to join an existing team from a drop-down menu, or create a new team that will become accessible on the platform once it is created.
- Complete your registration – you’re all set!
Already registered but need to join or create a team?
- Navigate to your profile icon in the top right corner of this RunSignUp page. Click on “My Registrations.”
- Your registration for the 5K will appear! Click on “Manage Registration.”
- Once on your Participant Management page, click on the “Team” menu tab towards the top right corner.
- To create a new team, select “Create New Team” and enter your team name. Then click the yellow button that says “Create & Join New Team.”
- To join a team, select “Join Existing Team” and select existing team from the dropdown menu or search for a team name. Then click the yellow button that says “Update Team.”
How do I log my 5K-related progress on RunSignUp?
- Navigate to your profile icon in the top right corner of this RunSignUp page. Click on your "Profile."
- Under "Upcoming Events," select "Submit Virtual Results" on the right.
- Here, you can submit your 5K date, time, distance, and any comments.
- Don't forget to share on social media as well! Tag us @nycaier and us the hashtag, #5KtheArtsEdWay.
