THIS TRIBUTE VIRTUAL 5K RUN & BIRTHDAY PARADE ARE IN MEMORY OF JOSH “LITTLE IRONMAN” ADCOCK
SUNDAY AUGUST 23, 2020-Josh’s 16th Birthday
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and recommended guidelines by the CDC and Governor Bill Lee for large events, we have made the difficult decision that it would be safer to do a Virtual 5K and Birthday Parade this year. We hope you will join us and help celebrate Josh’s 16th Birthday and support our cause to raise money to assist families facing financial difficulties who are caring for a sick loved one.
Theme for this year’s events: We will be celebrating Josh's 16th birthday "biker style"! Josh loved his red trike and riding with Poppie on his motorcycle. He would have asked for a car and a motorcycle for his birthday. So come revved up and ready for some fun and help us celebrate our sweet boy's 16th birthday.
LITTLE IRONMAN BIRTHDAY PARADE
We are excited to be having a Birthday Parade this year in honor of Josh’s 16th Birthday. Just like all our past events, when we had to change our plans this year due to the virus, the community was quick to support us and help provide a way for us to not only remember our little man who inspired us all, but also support our new idea in an effort to ensure we had funds to assist families in the coming year.
Our longtime sponsors were on board, venues needed were a quick yes, support needed from SSVFD and WCSO were a go. The P.H.I.L Foundation Board of Directors worked swiftly to come up with a new plan. Volunteers, family, and friends have all rallied with us for whatever we needed to make this happen. We still stand amazed at the love and support this small community shows us and our prayer is to work together to be the hands and feet of Jesus and give God all the glory!!!
Start Time: 3:00 pm
Where: Sulphur Springs School (Josh was proud to be a Gamecock!)
We will start the parade at Sulphur Springs School. Parade participants will enter from Bayless Road by the baseball field. We will turn right out of the school onto Hwy 75. We will turn left onto Avondale. Turn right on West Side. Turn left on West Ridge. Turn left back onto Hwy 75. Turn right into Sulphur Springs School and circle back behind the school. Turn right onto Bayless. Turn right into Sulphur Springs Cemetery (lower entrance). We will exit from the top entrance of the cemetery and this will end the parade route.
There will be no entry fee to participate in the parade, but you can still purchase a t-shirt if you would like. The proceeds from the t-shirt sales will help us assist families this year with travel for out of town appointments, hotel stays, medical bills, and so much more. Shirts will be a high-quality Next Level brand shirt.
We will have a tent set up in the gravel lot of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm to pick up your t-shirt. We will be wearing mask and gloves to distribute the t-shirts safely and will encourage all in line to stay 6 feet apart to encourage social distancing.
We will be releasing balloons as we drive through Sulphur Springs Cemetery in honor of Josh’s 16th birthday. Balloons will be available for pick up under the tent at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church gravel parking lot, same place as the t-shirts, or you can bring your own if you would like.
If you would like to donate to our cause instead of purchasing a t-shirt, you can do so at www.runsignup.com/littleironman, and use the donate button. All donations will be used for family assistance.
Line up will begin at 1:45 pm. We will be giving out fun awards to parade participants. Please decorate your vehicles, motorcycles, etc. and be lined up by 2:45 pm to enter. Awards will be distributed at 2:50 pm.
We encourage everyone to stay in their vehicles and practice social distancing to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
If you live along the parade route, we would encourage you to come out and wave or give a Happy Birthday shout out to Josh as the parade goes by. Some safe places to gather along the route to view the parade would be at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs School (grassy areas only). Josh’s family and The P.H.I.L. Foundation Board of Directors will be at Sulphur Springs Cemetery to thank you as you drive through.
