FAQs Classic Fun Run

What is the Classic Fun Run?
The Classic Fun Run is presented by the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) in association with the Amazon Magic City Classic!
This two-mile walk/run is open to all ages and activity levels. Whether you’re a runner, walker, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps raise awareness about diabetes and obesity.

What do the ADA and the Obesity Association do?
The ADA is the nation’s leading voluntary health organization fighting to end diabetes and helping people thrive. This year, the ADA celebrates 85 years of driving discovery and research to prevent, manage, treat, and ultimately cure diabetes—and we’re not stopping. There are 136 million Americans living with diabetes or prediabetes. Through advocacy, program development, and education, we’re fighting for them all.

Up to 53% of new cases of diabetes every year can be linked to obesity. Effective weight management can not only prevent but also potentially reverse diabetes, paving the way for a healthier lifestyle. The Obesity Association, a division of the ADA (Obesity Association), is focused on reducing the prevalence of obesity and improving health outcomes for people with and without diabetes.

Is there a registration fee?
Yes, registration is $25 plus a $2.50 sign-up fee plus taxes. If you set up a team, participants will be eligible for a $5 discount for teams with five or more members. The first four team members will be refunded $5 after the fifth team member registers.  Registration fees go up on September 30th and again on November 1st.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
There is no minimum fundraising target, but we’re encouraging friends, families, and coworkers to come together to raise awareness of diabetes and obesity. However, if you wish to fundraise, you can ask people to donate on the Magic City Classic site.

What can my fundraising help the ADA achieve?
Diabetes affects almost every family in America. Your support helps us strike back against diabetes with research, programs, and advocacy. Learn more about our work at diabetes.org.

What is included in my entry fee?
Participants will receive an event T-shirt, bib number, and a swag bag.
