Weather Policy
Runner safety is the most important thing and if any of the threatening weather conditions* listed below are present on the day of the event, the event may be delayed, modified or canceled. When weather conditions or other physical conditions present a danger to participants, the Riverbend Striders organization, in accordance with the city and the local law enforcement, maintain the right to cancel the event. If threatening weather conditions force cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for race day. Such conditions fall under the label “Acts of God,” and will not result in refunding of any race entry fees, or future event credits. Less threatening conditions may cause alterations of the course*** to ensure participant, volunteer, and community safety.
*The race may be canceled or delayed if any of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm, “Heavy” Rain, other major weather condition. Visible lightning will cause the race to be delayed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15 minute increments. The start of the event may be delayed up to one hour from the posted start time.
***Wet, slick roadways, standing water and poor visibility due to heavy rains may require rerouting or shortening the course. Changes may occur to the race start time on the scheduled date, modification of the race format, or cancellation of the event.
Broadcast of Cancellation
If Event is canceled more than 24 hours prior to the start time: We will notify all participants by email.
If Event is canceled less than 24 hours before start time: We will post on Facebook and notify all participants by email.
If Event is canceled during the actual event, all race activities timing, pictures, ect will cease. Participants that continue running do so at their own discretion and risk
