WHAT: Open Water  Swim Clinic
WHEN: April 6th 8:15am
WHERE: Cedar Hill State Park

You will LEARN the skills to meet the unique challenges of open water swimming, GAIN confidence in your ability and PRACTICE these new skills in an open water setting supported by kayaks.

Topics covered during the clinic include: starts, navigating, sighting (including adjusting a roll breathe to sight), turning buoys, positioning, drafting, releasing a cramp, treading water, environmental considerations and equipment (including cold weather).

Clinics are ~1.5 hours

Our hope is for attendees to find their own space for open water swimming. The clinic atmosphere is relaxed and encourages questions to allow swimmers and triathletes alike the chance to “reset their board”, finding a new level of comfort. Don’t miss this inclusive clinic and the chance to make strides in your open water swimming!

A little about Bonnie Brandecker Adams beginning with her youngest years
 
Age 9: began her competitive swimming career
Age 11: received her first 1st place finish at the Arkansas State Championship swim meet Age 12: earned a spot on the Arkansas Zone Team 
Age 14: qualified for her first Junior Nationals 
Age 15: she began her teaching career (and has been teaching ever since – over 3 decades).   
 
And as an adult Bonnie has accomplished quite a lot in her swimming career
·       Received two individual state titles in the 100 yard Backstroke. 
·       Athletic Scholarship recipient to the Lady Razorback Swim Team. 
·       Head High School Coach for Sante Fe Catholic High School and the Head Age Group and Masters Coach for the City of Lakeland Aquatic team. 
·       Awarded the Florida Zone Coach of the year 2001. 
·       Aquatics Director for Duke University 
·       Founder of: The Joys Of Swimming swim School. 
·       She has achieved Top Ten National times for Masters Swimming for the last 5 years, 
·       Top ten finishes for USMS Nationals ’22 and ’23
·       Founder of SWIM OZ – the fastest growing US Masters team in the nation in 2022 focusing Founder OZ Mile Swim – the region's largest open water swim and festival
·       Founder of The Tributary – a podcast about all things water. 
 
Her love and passion for swimming is easy to see. She is an encourager of all swimmers, and building the community of swimming wherever she goes is simply who she is.
