Reusable Cup Distribution (Friday) Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Most of our runners will need to pick up a Reusable Cup. They will have a ticket (a tab from their bib) that you will exchange for the silicone cup. You will explain that both the 5K and half marathon are cup free races (including at the finish line). All participants will need to carry something to drink with; whether it be a hydration pack, running belt, or at minimum- a cup to get a drink at the aid stations. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.

Merchandise Booth (Friday)

You will be helping maintain the merchandise booth by folding clothes, restocking inventory, and keeping things organized by size and style. You will also assist customers and direct them to the check out area. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.

Zero Waste (Friday)

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will be assisting in our zero waste effort. You will help collect garbage from our zero waste bins around the expo and start/finish and separate the trash, recycling and compost items. You will be provided gloves and further instruction from the zero waste coordinator. This is the best way to help us divert waste from the landfill. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.

At the expo, there will be a separate tent dedicated for Elk Double runner swag. All of the swag items will be laid out at the booth. You will look up the Elk Double runner, hand them their chosen swag item, and check it off on a list. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.

S'mores Station (Friday)

Details

The expo has a s'mores station where participants may come roast a marshmallow, and build their own s'more. You will be handing out graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows, and roasting sticks to those coming to your booth. You are also in charge of keeping your station safe, clean, and tidy. You must be 16 years old and comfortable around a fire pit. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.

Expo setup involves helping unload a truck with gear and supplies used for the expo. You will be helping to get tables, tents, flags, and booths ready for the event as well as organizing bibs, race shirts, and merchandise. You will be doing manual labor and may be asked to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Friday // 5K

5K Finish Line Medals & Food (Friday)

Details

You will help at the finish line. Jobs may include setting up tables for the post-race food boxes or unboxing or handing out finisher medals. Plus lots of cheering! You will be lifting heavy boxes and will be on your feet for your entire shift.

The finish line is sandwiched between the south side of Lake Estes and Highway 36. From Community Drive, you will need to walk through the tunnel (under Highway 36) and turn left toward the 5K finish line area.

Details

You will be helping manage gear check before the start of the race. There will be a supply of white trash bags and markers, where you will help runners prepare their own gear check bag. They will write their name and bib number on the bag before putting any of their belongings inside. You will instruct runners where to put the bags, or take them to be transported to the finish line. You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift. This is an early morning shift.

You will be helping direct traffic flow and parking cars on Saturday morning before the start of the half marathon. You will be on your feet and outdoors, directing vehicles to park. We will provide a safety vest, cones, and directional signs to help.

Details

You will be organizing the gear bags by bib numbers just outside of the finish line area. There will be signs with bib numbers in groups of 150. Keep this area as neat as possible. Runners will give you their bib numbers and you will locate their gear check bag.

Loose clothing that is dropped at the first aid station will be laid on a tarp in a large pile next to the gear check bags for runners to retrieve their item(s). You will be outside and on your feet for your entire shift.
