Registration Process

What is included with my race registration?
Registration includes race participation, contribution to issue area or nonprofit, Give Miami Day 5K t-shirt, issue area identifier, finisher medal, hydration and snacks, and entry to the post-race Festival. 

Can I transfer my registration to another person?
No, registrations are non-transferable. 

I cannot make the race. Can I get a refund?  
Registrations are non-refundable. 100% of proceeds from your registration fee supports local nonprofits participating in Give Miami Day. 

Do you send out pre-race and post-race emails?
Yes, you’ll receive a pre-race email with event logistics and a post-race email with results, photos, and ways to stay engaged with The Miami Foundation and Give Miami Day. 

When is the deadline to register to participate?
Early bird registration ends on October 10; however, runners have until November 16 to register.  

Who can I donate to?
When you register, 100% of proceeds from your race registration fee goes toward the issue area or nonprofit organization you care about the most and you have the option to give more during registration.  

Will I receive a donation receipt for my race registration fee?
No. Because your registration fee is not a charitable donation but an event entry fee, you will not receive a tax-deductible donation receipt. However, 100% of proceeds from your registration fee goes toward the issue area you care about the most, and you can choose to give more during registration.   

Can I choose any nonprofit in Miami-Dade County?
Only nonprofits that are registered and approved to participate in Give Miami Day are eligible to receive donations from The Give Miami 5K. If your chosen nonprofit has not yet registered, there’s still time, organizations can complete their Give Miami Day registration at GiveMiamiDay.org through October 17, 2025. 

Race Day Logistics

What time does the race start?
Check-in opens at 6:00 a.m. The race begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. 

Where is the race?
The race will be held at Maurice Ferré Park (1075 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132) in Downtown Miami, with a scenic route along Biscayne Bay. 

What is the course and length like?
The course is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), winding through Maurice Ferré Park and along the I-395 bridge. Expect cheer squads, DJs, mascots, hydration stations, and special activations at various mile marker. 

Can I walk instead of run?
Yes! The Give Miami Day 5K is a walk/run race. 

Do you give out shirts at the race?
Yes, every registrant receives a Give Miami Day 5K t-shirt. Additional swag is available for purchase at the GMD Swag Store on Race Day. 

Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes, awards will be announced on the Festival Mainstage after the race. The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. 

Where can I park?
On race morning, Northbound Biscayne Blvd will be counter-flowed onto South Bound Biscayne Blvd. from 8th Street to NE 11th Street. Unauthorized vehicles will not have access to Maurice Ferré Park, Frost Museum of Science and PAMM. 

  • Ride Sharing: Parking and navigating road closures on race day can be difficult so we recommend you consider using a ride sharing app, such as Uber or Lyft to access the race.
  • Public Transportation: The Metrorail and Metromover will be open and can be used to get to the race. The OUTER LOOP of the Metromover is the closest access point if you get off on the Miami-Dade Arena/ Miami Heat Arena stop. Please give yourself enough time as trains run less often on the weekend. 
  • Paid Parking: Kaseya Center P2 Parking Garage (601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL, 33132) has a $10 parking fee. Arena does not take cash payments. To access the P2 Parking Garage turn east off Biscayne Blvd. on Bayshore, then left into area lot P2 Parking Garage.
  • Metered Spaces: There are metered parking spaces along Biscayne Boulevard (first come-first serve basis).

Nonprofit Participation

How can my nonprofit participate in The Give Miami 5K?
To be a recipient of donations through The Give Miami 5K, your nonprofit must be registered to participate in Give Miami Day 2025. Once your nonprofit’s Give Miami Day registration is approved, it takes approximately 24 - 48 hours for your nonprofit organization to be added to The Give Miami 5K registration page. Nonprofits can complete registration at GiveMiamiDay.org  

Do I have to participate in Give Miami Day to participate in The Give Miami 5K?
Anyone can register and run in The Give Miami 5K. However, only nonprofits that are approved participants of Give Miami Day 2025 can receive donations through the race. If your nonprofit would like to be eligible, you must register to participate in Give Miami Day at GiveMiamiDay.org.  

How long does it take for a nonprofit organization to appear on The Give Miami 5K registration page after I’ve completed my Give Miami Day registration?
Once the nonprofit’s Give Miami Day registration is approved, it takes approximately 24 - 48 hours for your nonprofit organization to be added to The Give Miami 5K registration page. At that point, runners will be able to select the nonprofit during registration and direct their race fees to your organization. 

What do I have to do to ensure my nonprofit is included on The Give Miami 5K page?
Once the nonprofit’s Give Miami Day registration is approved, Miami Foundation staff will ensure it is added to The Give Miami 5K registration page. It takes approximately 24 - 48 hours for your nonprofit organization to appear on The Give Miami 5K registration page. At that point, runners will be able to select the nonprofit during registration and direct their race fees to your organization. 

How can a race participant direct their registration fee towards my nonprofit?
When you register for The Give Miami 5K, you can direct your registration fee to support Miami’s nonprofits in two ways. When you sign up for the race, you will be automatically prompted to choose to give to an issue area you care about, in which the total funds raised for that issue area will be split among all nonprofits that do work in that issue area. Alternatively, you can direct your registration fee to a specific nonprofit. 

Will the donations raised during The Give Miami 5K appear on my Give Miami Day profile?
No, the donations raised during The Give Miami 5K will not be displayed on your Give Miami Day profile. However, rest assured that your organization will still receive all funds raised by your nonprofit organization during the race as part of your Give Miami Day disbursement. Your participation in the 5K simply gives supporters another way to champion your cause and build momentum leading into Give Miami Day. 

How can donors get involved in The Give Miami 5K besides running the race?
Donors are encouraged to cheer on their favorite nonprofits and issue areas along the race course, showing support and building excitement. They can also donate directly to participating nonprofits and issue areas at the festival following the race. 

Safety & Accessibility 

Will there be medical staff or a first aid tent?
Yes, medical staff and a first aid tent will be available at the festival grounds. 

Is the race canceled if it rains or storms?
The race will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, updates will be communicated by email, social media, and on-site announcements. 

Is the course wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the course is paved and accessible. 

Giving Impact 

Who benefits from the race?
When you register to run/walk (or skip or dance) your way through The Give Miami 5K, you get to directly support the nonprofits in our community that are doing vital work every day to meet Miami’s needs. 100% of proceeds from every participant’s registration fee goes toward Miami’s nonprofits – with the opportunity to choose to give to an issue area they care about or directly to a nonprofit. So, whether it’s the environment, animal welfare, education, or any other issue, you get to declare what matters to you – and support that cause on the day of the race.   
This is more than a race! It’s a celebration of generosity and commitment to Miami. 

How can I donate?
There are three easy ways to give:
          1. During registration - You can donate when you sign up for The Give Miami 5K.
          2. Online at GiveMiamiDay.org - Starting on Early Giving, November 15, you can donate directly to participating nonprofits.
          3. On-site at the Festival - Make a donation at The Give Miami 5K Festival on November 16. 

Can I choose which nonprofit to support?
Yes. When you register for The Give Miami 5K, you can direct your registration fee to support Miami’s nonprofits – with the opportunity to choose to give to an issue area you care about or directly to a nonprofit.
