NEW COURSES

It all takes place in beautiful Saxapahaw; starting at TerraStay Farm.  There are 3 courses - each course includes moving down farm lanes, through pastures, past high tunnels, lambs, pigs, and chickens.  You'll dive into the woods on trails, cross a shallow babbling creek, and run along the Haw River. 

The 5K will be a little muddy, dusty, & potentially damp but will be achievable for most fitness levels and children under 10 can participate with adult supervision. We recommend parents bring child carrying backpacks for children 4 and under.  

The 5hr-TAR (3-4 person Team Adventure Race) will include obstacles, navigation, mud, river crossings, puzzles, and challenges.  The winning team will not necessarily be the fastest or most agile, but rather those with the best problem-solving and team skills. Min age 9.  If team has participants under 16 at least one team member must be 25+/under 16 racer.

The Kids Farm Dash will be a protected course on TerraStay farm ranging 1/3 to 1 mile for children 9 and younger.   

• 1/3 miles: ages up to 4 years old.   
• 2/3 mile: ages 5-7
• 1-mile: ages 8-9.     
• At Parent's discretion children can race longer distances than age designation. All children must be able to move independently and follow safety directions to race alone

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

•  7 -9am        Packet Pickup & Race Day Registration. *No Swag for race day registration - reg. for 5K and Kids Dash only*
•  8am              5HR - TAR START 
•  9:am             5K START
• 11:am            Kids Dash START (1/3, 2/3, & 1 mile protected courses - @TerraStay Farm)
• 1pm               DROP BAG P/U Closes. Unclaimed bags will remain but unmanned.
• 10 - 2pm    Post Race Party - Farm Food, Games, Picnic, Beer, Music 
• 12 - 6pm     Farm Visits, Hiking, & Hayrides.
•  6 - 8pm      Saturdays in Saxapahaw. Music Festival and Market

Post Race Festival!  Eat, Play, Explore - Get to know your farmers. Sign up for our CHOICE CSA.  You invest in us, you choose what and when you want to purchase farm goods from multiple farms, we deliver to a drop spot near you.  You pick up when YOU are available!   Ask us all your questions - We will happily tell you about our community of small, ethical, restorative family farms and if you stick around we’ve got some really good stories!  

Camping Add-On:  Race registrants can choose to camp on farm with one of our farm families. $25/tent up to 4 people

Saturdays in Saxapahaw Concert and Market:  Spend the day.  Concert in the park starts at 6pm.  There will be bubbles and slip and slide for the kids, music, & craft and farm vendors.

Drop Box for bags (1 tag/ registered runner):  If you choose to spend the day and want to bring a backpack, we will have a manned drop box at the start/finish line. Hint: You might want to bring an extra pair of shoes, sweatshirts, a blanket, or a hat.  You bring your backpack.  1 tag per registered runner.  It will be manned from 7am-1pm but we cannot be liable for damage or loss. At noon the bags remain at the drop location but will no longer be manned - it's the runner's responsibility to get their bag by noon.

*Please note:  

Street Strollers will not be able to complete the 5k course.  Off-road strollers may be able to complete the 5k but we still recommend the use of a child-carrying backpack for participants that want to bring young children on the course with them.  The course is rolling with both downhill and uphill sections and all of iton dirt, grass, forest, or pasture.  

Dogs:  We are Dog lovers!  But our farms all have working dogs and for everyone's safety, we just can't have guest pups at this event.  

Rain or Shine.  The race goes on regardless

Group Discounts: Contact Race Director for group discounts.  We are offering $5 off adult registrations for groups of 8 or more.  Larger discounts for larger groups may be available for early registrations.
