What’s included with my registration?  

Registration for Run for the Zoo includes a limited-edition shirt, participation in team and individual fundraising challenges with exciting prizes, and access to a fun post-race celebration. All registrations also include a participant medal with the 2026 Run for the Zoo logo, featuring the year’s animal theme. Wildlife Warrior participants also get a very special additional piece of Run for the Zoo swag! 

Is there a minimum pace time?  

For the best experience on this course, we recommend that Wildlife Warrior runners aim for a pace of under 16 minutes per mile. Such a pace minimizes overlap with other race participants and local foot traffic.   

What time does the Wildlife Warrior Run start? 

The Wildlife Warrior Run will begin with the 5K at 7:30 8:15 a.m. Wildlife Warrior runners will start with the first wave of 5K runners. 

Plan ahead: All participants should arrive early on race morning due to road closures from the race route on Stockton Drive and Fullerton Avenue, as well as DuSable Lake Shore Drive ramps onto Fullerton.  To learn more about road closures, go here. 

Where are the start and finish lines?  

The start line for the Wildlife Warrior course is located at Stockton Drive just south of Webster Avenue, near the zoo’s West Gate. The finish line for both races is located on the east side of Pepper Family Wildlife Center on zoo grounds.  

What is the course route? 

Course maps will be available closer to race day. We will add a link to the PDF on this page when it is available. Check back soon! 

Note: There are no restrooms on this course. There are 3 water stations located on the course. 

Can I check my personal belongings while I participate in the race?  

A complimentary gear check will be located at Bird’s Eye Bar & Grill, above the zoo’s Gift Shop.
